WInter 2012 initial impressions

So far have been a few shows this season that have piqued my interest, and one which I failed to reach the end of- yes I'm looking at you, Kill me Baby
my thoughts while watching this
JC Staff continued to disappoint with Ano Natsu de Miteru- seriously, if you're going to do an original story can you please make it less cliche and trope-ridden? Cast is a mishmash of character traits from other recent show and all done in the same Toradora/To aru series art style of all recent JC shows.
we've caught you plagiarising red-handed!
As for Highschool DxD, apart from the fanservice this show is dire, with the male characters all cretinous letches and the females all as emotionless as a 35 year old crack addicted pron starlet (whihc if they were 3D they probably would end up as)
'Are you sure it's essential to the plot for me to take up top off?'
Amagami SS S2- most enjoyed show so far, and a more interesting election than the republican primaries.Kinda sad that Ayatsuji would probably be a better pres than any of them, she'd fix the US economy no problem. Though I'd still vote for Sae!
YES WE CAN!
Speaking of elections, the various pirate parties would adopt the cast of Moretsu Pirates as their new mascots. Despite having the usual cliches (transfer students- grr!) this could be fun if it doesn't try to be too serious
Down with SOPA!
Which brings me finally to Papa Papa no Iukoto wo Kikinasai, the guiltiest of guilty pleasures this season. Am sure this show is going to result in me going to a very bad place, but will be worth it thanks to loli-Haruhi, loli-ier Saber and loli-est Hibiki. Plus liked how they set the scene and introduced the character's prior to the tragic events to come
*Moegasam*

Added bonus for those of us who like more mature characters as well, Raika-san and her deadpan 'acting' were epic!

All together a good start to the season

Vote Sae!

I'd caucus for her!

Updated Saturday: version 2

As for the episode itself, was great to see the cast again, and starting with Ayatsuji is a good idea. Only problem with the plot though is that we know from the end of the first season that they end up married and with a kid, so is no tension in Junichi's temptation. Though how he retained the ability to procreate is a mystery....

Top 10 Anime of 2011

Konbanwa~
following on from 2 days ago (so much for posting more frequently- ed), here's my view on what were the best show of the last 12 months. Only criteria are what I've watched to the end, and no sequels. This is a personal opinion, so don't bitch if your favourite show doesn't make the cut!

10) Mayo Chiki- Delicious reverse trap butler, perverted mistress and violent imouto.

9) Ymekui Merry- JC staff show do about a mysterious DFC and don't cast Rie Kugimiya shock! Good characters, pacing and action scenes.

8) A Channel- K-ON! clone without the music, Yuuko was a passable Mio substitute. Touru was cute.

7) Kore wa Zomie desu ka? Very funny, tongue in cheek romp. Added points for Ayumu's crossdressing, Haruna and Sera kissing.

6) Ana hana- *sob* Menmaaaa!

5) Yuru Yuri- Chinastu sexually assaulting Akarin was one of my highlights of the year

4) Usagi Drops- thoughtful, great visuals and realistic performances. Rin gets the prize for cutest loli of 2011.

3) Nichijou- some bits were abit forced but overall hilarious. Best scenes- Yuuko's test, Principle v deer, Mio's sketching

2) The Idolm@ster- great mix of slice of life, comedy and drama. Cast were all memorable and fun to watch,  though Iori, Miki and Yukiho have to be my favourites. Good music too. K-ON done as I'd have liked perhaps?

1) Puella Magi Madoka Majica- no contest really, original, thought provoking, genre reinventing and possible the next EVA or Haruhi in terms of impact. Great visuals, strong characters and not afraid to kill the cute cast.

Happy new year!

Konbanwa~

Hope you all had a good new year's eve. My new years resolution is to to actually do some blogging in 2012, as opposed to the half dozen posts I put up in 2011.

Overall the past year has been a vintage one for anime IMO, and looking ahead there are already a few shows am looking forward to in the upcoming season. In particular:

Amagami S2- hopefully as each heroine's arc is supposed to be a direct sequel will be a bit like Clannad after story

Kill me baby- ultra-violence is always funny!

Mouretsu Pirates- could be a cute anime (space) version of the Pirates of the Caribbean, or a train wreak,

Ano Natsu de Matteru- JC staff comedies are always worth checking out,

Papa no Iu Koto wo Kikinasai!- a comedy version of usagi drops? At first I thought was a messed up concept as it was implied the male lead was the girls actual father (which would be unlikely as he's 19 and the oldest is 12 to 14). However as it is has been made clearer that he is just a relative it could be good.

I will def check this shows out, and probably tweet first impressions. Here's hoping for a good 2012 ^^
